Religious ‘Right’ Abuse (Prudence Gone Oppressive)

I don’t know if is is Conservative based or not. I imagine fundamentalist Baptist would vote for a Bush over a Kerry or McCain over Obama? But this uptight nonsense is one reason religion is viewed as obnoxiously oppressive, whether Islam or Baptist. It is the crux of Conservatism’s rejection by voters. PC Humanism v. the Church. Both obnoxious, stifling and demanding silly conformity. Where is a Moderate when you need one.  Hey, I get ‘freaking’ and the like. But, if you raised a good little Baptist or Catholic or Muslim they will withstand temptations…..usually.

  1. But, isn’t it oppressive to tell people their religion can’t and shouldn’t shape their worldviews? I think it is oppressive that people do not allow religious people or those who believe in God, to express their opinions. Moreover, if someone is atheist, their religion also shapes their views in politics. I heard on radio that a group is trying to get the National Day of Prayer to be abolished. Isn’t this a form of pushing their religion and worldviews into politics?

    • part of me agrees with you as personally I have my faith. I know that much of our country’s foundation was based on religious values and to escape the crown. I also believe that PC Humanism is sterile and void anything bigger than the ego of man. But, these other extremes are as abusive. Of course, an adult doesn’t have to go there….a kid is hostage. Just weighing the forces and my social conservatism is challenged from both sides…perhaps a Libertarian streak?

  2. Are there any realistic moderate churches or religious teachers? Many may take the claim…but I can’t find one. I am curious if any actually exist. And are able to survive.
