'CHANGE' Smells

Rahm Emanuel: Bought and Paid For

Seems that the folks over at the KOS are already becoming disillusioned with the bailout plan. Somehow they’ll blame Bush instead of the plan’s biggest advocates, Pelosi and Reid. Don’t look for much change from the Obama administration when it comes to corporate welfare. I’ve pasted an article straight from The Examiner which reveals that Obama’s new Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, is in about as deep as you can get with those evil and greedy wall-street big-shots. Again, this is not the “Hope” and “Change” Obama’s radical friends were looking for.

ACORN
ACORN

Just a refresher re ACORN. Do the digging for visual confirmation that ACORN is not non-partisan; that ACORN muscled via racial intimidation to get rediculous Liar’s Loans; find the ACORN convention and watch the Demwit Maxine Waters (what a moron) endorsing Obama. AND, why is Obama getting away with no accounting for $200 Million Dollars Campaign Contributions??????????? Why doesn’t the msm question this?

“Where Did All That Cash Come From?

Redistribute The Wealth: Lobster for Everyone!

Is anyone else thinking that this is not exactly the best time to brag about raising $150 million in one month from donors who find themselves fearing economic catastrophe?  Especially on the heels of that report that $200 million in previous Obama donations is suspect?”

Barney Frank (The Corrupt Pustule Cries Racism….STOP!!!!!!)

Say any allegations you want these days: racism, anti-poor, anti-gay, any bias allegation to throw a stiff arm up to slow or stop criticism. The unethical, if not criminal, Barney Frank has done just that. Any criticism of the Dem’s well intended, but ultimately flawed housing program is cause for playing the race card. Huh? The rule of law and civility are a good thing. Not long ago a charlatan pig like Frank would have been tarred and feathered and displayed for what he is: a bloated, arrogant pimple with little intellect. The best Frank can do is throw out the race card. No critique of this debacle is forthcoming from the MSm. No blow back toward this disgraceful human being. No justice. This mumbling throw back to the sated European monarchists should be publicly ridiculed, even if civility and the rule of law prohibit a more proper punishment for this corrupt, pompous thief.

The soft touch from Huff Po: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/06/barney-frank-gop-housing_n_132328.html

However, Thomas Sowell has a more direct take on these sleaze merchants:

Fact No. 1: It was liberal Democrats, led by Sen. Christopher Dodd and Rep. Barney Frank, who for years – including this year – denied that Fannie Maeand Freddie Mac were taking big risks that could lead to a financial crisis. It was Mr. Dodd, Mr. Frank and other liberal Democrats who for years refused requests from the Bush administration to set up an agency to regulate Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

It was liberal Democrats, again led by Mr. Dodd and Mr. Frank, who for years pushed for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to go even further in promoting subprime mortgage loans, which are at the heart of today’s financial crisis.”

Financial Crisis & Subprime Loans (A Handy Summary)

http://www.audacityofhypocrisy.com/

The housing bubble caused it.  And what caused the housing bubble?

The answer is Subprime risky mortgages to low income bad credit risk borrowers.

And where did these subprime risky mortgages come from?

It was the Community Reinvestment Act passed by the Democrats and signed into law by President Carter in 1977.  <—(Google it)

It required banks and thrifts to offer credit throughout their entire market area. It gave incentives to help low-income borrowers get a home.

Not a bad idea if done right.

The CRA helped a little, but only a little until 1995, when the Clinton Administration gave new subprime authorization to lenders with massive additional provisions in the CRA. Home loans skyrocketed.”

“Well, in 2003, the Bush Administration proposed a new agency to oversee and regulate Freddie Mac and Fanie Mae, (the government sponsored companies that are the two largest players in the mortgage lending industry) This would have been the most significant regulatory overhaul in the housing finance industry since the S and L crisis a decade ago.  The Democrats stopped it…supporters of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae said efforts to regulate the lenders tightly under the proposed agency might diminish their ability to finance loans for lower-income families.
   Barney Frank (D-MA)
“The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies (Freddie and Fannie), the less we will see in terms of “affordable housing.”

————–

These companies were forced to loan money to people who couldn’t afford it in the interest of “being fair.” Rules were relaxed and money was loaned and predictably low income families defaulted on loans that they never had any business getting in the first place and now you and I have to pay for it.

Another liberal policy and another liberal failure. And now we must all pay for it. But hell, they meant well.

Democrats At Their Filthy Best (Owning All of Fannie Mae, 2004)

I am so angry. I am beyond patience with this mierda. At this point, GW has lost all credibility with me. This is so wrong. Really, the ability to absorb this his hard enough. As I watch my retirement perched on the edge of the abyss, and watch these repulsive Democrats posture at our expense, a beatdown is in order. My contempt is sliding toward anger.

http://hotair.com/archives/2008/09/29/video-democrats-insist-nothing-wrong-at-fannie-mae-freddie-mac-in-2004/

The Democrats attacking the regulator here didn’t do so out of some deep conviction against government regulation.  They wanted to keep the gravy train rolling on questionable mortgages in order to endear themselves to the working class, and didn’t mind smearing the OFHEO regulator as a racist in order to succeed.  The Republicans who wanted more oversight didn’t demand it as socialists looking for a government takeover of the financial sector, either, but because they saw the impending disaster looming for Fannie Mae.

Democrats distorted the market through the CRA and through Fannie and Freddie’s massive securitizing of bad debt, and then blocked regulators from doing their jobs.  That’s the real story of this collapse.
