Conservatism Failing (Republican Moderates & Elites Sell Out) October 9, 2008

It is evident to most Conservatives, by now, that as Michelle Malking laments in her link below, the tentacles of Socialism are now strongly attached to our economic well being. Also, Conservatives and the Conservative populace, me included, have failed to bring pressure to bear on trends and practices that have brought us to this point. Ineptness, cowardice, the distractions of war have combined together to put us into this mess.

Bottom line, Bush failed to marshall public alarm over this housing issue. He has yet to stand up as a lame duck and tell it like it is. He sounds enormously weak and I swear every time I hear a clip of him regard this ‘financial crisis’ he sounds like he has just been interrupted at a diner and is making some vague, weak remark while spreading jam on his toast. I defended him forever and this entire event has sealed his fate for me. I am done.

He was not a Conservative. Of if one, then of the Neo stripe. I am equally done with the Republican Party and the Republican suits. Whatever, they say they tried to do, they did not see the end game to all this Fannie Mae corruption. They lacked the courage to call bullshit upon the liar’s loans and feared the racist label. They did not do their job while the fox was in the hen house.

And, most recently the David Brooks elite contingent of the Republican’t Party describing Palin as a cancer within the party…a Populist cancer is demonstrative of their arrogance. Better the Republicans harness Populism than the class envy Dem’s. Populism is born out of the arrogance of the elite, whether in financial or government circles. It is born out of the common man’s belief others gain unfair advantage while he sweats for his family unit.

I am not sure if FruNobulux below is right or not. I feel his frustration. May I say I am so angry and frustrated I want to smash something. I won’t, not yet. But, we have been betrayed. McCain has betrayed us further. It is over, no matter who wins. The system has been infiltrated and tweaked. The divide is there between the social planners and their ilk and those who value Liberty and less social planning.

Unless true Conservatives step up and risk their political careers to say the risky statements, then it might as well come crumbling down. The Conservative group failed us. Too fractured and vague. No ability to counter the MSm smear. Again, no sophistication to counter. Someone has to stand strong beyond talk radio and Fox News. Someone has to talk principles and realities. I guess I will adopt the Ted Nugent mentality of self sufficiency (I should anyway)…don’t come down my drive unless you’re family or invited. This, of course, is what the social planners want. Turn away and let them have their manipulative ways.

“FruNobulux said:

I’m afraid, as conservatives, we are getting what we deserve. We stood by while our schools, our Universities, our press and our government were taken over by 60’s hippie detritus and their shallow, venal followers. We were mostly silent as the America haters made movies and television shows as tools of promoting a world-wide culture of America-hate even while, paradoxically, American culture is wildly popular in the countries that seem to hate us most.

I’m slowly converting to Conservative Nihilism: the only way we can get out of this mess is to let it crumble, plow it under, and ensure that the new institutions are built taking into account some of the lessons we’ve learned (inter alia): severe penalties for betraying the public trust (like what we call “treason” now), a Bill of Responsibilities complimentary to a Bill of Rights, absolute prohibitions on government debt, and a return to the family as the fundamental unit of civilization.”
